Google Business Profile Strategy For Builders
The cheapest credibility asset a builder owns, and the one most likely to be neglected into irrelevance.

For most builders, the map pack produces higher-intent enquiries than the website. It is also free. The reason it underperforms is almost always operational neglect rather than algorithmic difficulty.
Get the structure right once
- A primary category that matches what you actually do most
- Secondary categories for genuine service lines only
- Service areas set to where you build, not where you hope to build
- Every service listed with a short, specific description
- Consistent name, address and phone details across the web
Then operate it monthly
A profile is a publishing surface, not a directory listing. A monthly rhythm of project photographs with location context, a short update on an ongoing build, and answers to Q&A entries keeps the profile active in a way the ranking system and the buyer both notice.
Reviews: recency beats volume
Ten reviews from the last twelve months generally outperform sixty from four years ago. Build the request into handover: ask individually, reference their project, and make it easy. Respond to every review, including the difficult ones, in a way a future buyer would find reassuring.
Photographs are evidence
Upload progress work, not only completed exteriors. A profile showing structural stages communicates competence that a rendered elevation cannot.
